Located on the premises of the BIA office at Jorpati, the Tailoring Institute is a work station for people in wheelchairs and other types of disabilities. Engagements here include training in different stitching techniques and making decorative items. From making different kinds of Tibetan traditional decorations, meditation cushions, thangka frames to fancy products or any kind of stitching – they are just perfect at what they do.
Out of the 300 business proposals received from the disabled people’s circle in the event ‘Let’s Join Hands’ organized by BIA Foundation, six projects were selected among which tailoring also stood out. The strong training background of the concerned qualified team of women made this project selected. Today, members get the opportunity to explore their skills in a homely environment. BIA Foundation is looking forward to strengthening their skills and creativity by providing an international market and encouraging them for international exposure.
